FleishmanHillard Dublin Supports Lakers as part of FH4Inclusion Programme

FLEISHMANHILLARD DUBLIN SUPPORTS LAKERS AS PART OF FH4INCLUSION PROGRAMME

FH4Inclusion is a pro bono initiative launched in 2016 to celebrate our 70th Anniversary with the goal of uniting colleagues across our global network to take action in their own way towards the singular cause of social inclusion.

Here in Ireland we have been supporting Lakers, a sports and recreational club in Bray, Co. Wicklow. Lakers provides children and adults with an intellectual disability the opportunity to develop and nurture their own personal skills and self-esteem in a supportive, inclusive and fun environment. Sports and social activities including; football, basketball, cooking, art, skiing, computer literacy, dancing and much more. They run over 60 activities a week for over 400 members, the centre is open 6 days a week, and is supported by over 160 volunteers. Lakers is an amazing club.

Earlier this year we supported Lakers with media and communications support when they opened their new Centre following an horrendous fire at their original premises over a year ago with Minister for Health, Simon Harris doing the honours.

During the summer we were back in action for the annual Lakers Summer Barbeque when we volunteered to help run a daylong event for members and their families.

Our most recent support was to raise funds at the FleishmanHillard Lakers Table Quiz at Zozimus in city centre Dublin. Thirty teams comprising clients, suppliers, friends and staff came together for a special night of questions, answers and a whole lot of fun under the watchful eye of quizmaster Maia Dunphy, well known broadcaster, author, producer and Dancing with the Stars contestant.

After ten rounds of general knowledge, geography, movie, television, history, sport, food, politics and music questions the top ten teams were separated by just seven points, the victorious team winning by just a half a point! The real winners on the night though was Lakers when it was announced that €5,000 has been raised to support the club as they continue to provide a vital service to their members in the Bray and surrounding Wicklow area.

It has been our privilege this year to have been involved with Lakers. Over the past three years FH4Inclusion has been firmly established as an important part of life at FleishmanHillard Dublin and we are looking forward to next year with more exciting ways we can continue to support those who for whatever reason are excluded from participating in society.
